Judge denies Stainbrook injunction request
Written by Kristen Rapin | | krapin@toledofreepress.comLucas County Common Pleas Judge Charles Doneghy on Feb. 11 denied Meghan Gallagher’s injunction against Jeff Simpson and ruled that neither Lucas County Republican Party (LCRP) faction complied with statutory requirements to be recognized.
Gallagher, disputed LCRP central committee chair, sought an injunction against Simpson, who is the disputed LCRP chairman, to delay the power struggle from being resolved by the state party.
The most recent election of central committee members took place March 4, 2008. and according to R.C.3517.04, an organizational meeting needed to be hosted between April 9 and April 18, Doneghy said. The Gallagher faction did not meet until June 18, 2008, and the court concluded that election of the Gallagher faction did not meet statutory requirements to be recognized.
Doneghy also found that Simpon’s faction did not establish an organized meeting within the April time frame, or any other proper time frame, and didn’t meet statutory requirements to be recognized.
Doneghy deferred the decision of what group should be the recognized LCRP to the Ohio Republican Party, based on case precedent.
“We’ve been expecting to go in front of the Ohio Central Committee since December. We’re prepared to do so and look forward to it,” Simpson said.
Jon Stainbrook, contested LCRP chairman, could not be reached for comment.
The Ohio Republican Party Central Committee has 30 days to meet and decide which group to recognize. The state committee has no meetings scheduled in February or March and will have to have a special central committee meeting, said John McClelland, spokesman for the Ohio Republican Party. No date for the meeting has been determined.
Depending which faction the Ohio Republican Party recognizes as the Lucas County Republican Party, the soon-to-be-vacant Board of Elections seat could either be filled by Stainbrook or David Dmytryka. Lynn Olman’s seat expires Feb. 28.

Those that wonder why this entire region is controlled by Dems and Unions can stop wondering now.
Watching the L.C.R.P. (which the state wrote off years ago) is like watching the Marx Brothers take on The Three Stooges in a plumbing contest.
I hear they have Harpo running against Marcy Kaptur.
The only two with any brains at all (Ludeman and Sarantou) have done well to stay away from this foolishness.
The rest are all changing players in the ongoing farce that is the L.C.R.P. With the curtain rising and falling on the same story again and again. So this year the roles of Stainbrook, Gallagher, and Bensman will be played by Simpson, Bartow, and Myers who were understudies of Thurber, Wack, and Reichert.
No matter how much ink, time, and bandwith is devoted to this problem, it will continue.
Keeping the time, but not the score…

This comment was posted on February 11th, 2010 at 7:52 pmI can’t speak for what happened over the years, but this year all I have heard out of Stainbrook has been damaging to Republicans whether making them take down websites that were useful for getting new people involved or by giving plenty of negative interviews to try to destroy other Republicans. Who would want to join that?
This comment was posted on February 11th, 2010 at 9:04 pmWe want to elect true conservatives, but we need leadership that cooperates and treats people with respect or we will have nothing to do with them.
And Jon Stainbrook was Tom Noe’s errand boy.
This comment was posted on February 12th, 2010 at 8:22 amDear Timekeeper, you seem to take great glee, in the fact that R’s , are having a difficult time in Little Detroit.
This comment was posted on February 12th, 2010 at 12:17 pmOdd response to be sure…afterall, any blame for this areas woes are COMPLETELY on the shoulders of Demonrats, 100 % !!
If that is what makes you happy, you are obviously not someone who worked for any of the 13 Fortune 500 companies , that used to call Toledo, home !
Liberals, uncharitable, confused folks ,with no sense of humor, unless it is at the expense of one of their many real and imagined opponents.
Sorry Ty,
I thought there was much humour in my commentary.
This is another example of those who are happy to point the fingers at the Dems for all of the problems. However, no one has yet re-arranged the puzzle pieces to make a whole LCRP of the sort that put Donna Owens in office many years ago.
As for charitable, pleeeze… Judge Doneghei taking the time to even pretend to care about this issue is the utmost in chairty. The man should be given a civil service award!
This comment was posted on February 12th, 2010 at 4:06 pmDeat T.K., The L.C.R.P., will always have difficulties in Little Detroit, as they will( and do ) in any city where unions, minorities , and, the homosexual crowd dominate the voting populace.
This comment was posted on February 15th, 2010 at 4:14 pmAny humor in our demise by Demonrat, economic dunces & business hating jackasses , didn’t, doesn’t , and won’t ever, have me laughing .
Look to the suburbs to have better schools, less crime, a more wholesome way of life, JOBS, etc., for the simple reason of FLIGHT, of the decent citizens out of Demonrat created Hell’s Outhouse’s, that they have made…can we say Toledo ?!
Makes sense to me…
The people that are trying to take over the Lucas county GOP are the same ones who destroyed it in the first place by their criminal activites. Joanne Wack, Tom Noe, Bob Reichert, etc.. Thats why Jon Stainbrook was elected in the first place. To clean up the party and restore some sanity. And he did a great job geting rid of the trash. And now those people want to remove Mr. Stainbrook with more shaddy backdoor deals with the state central commity. They held an illeagal central commity meeting and submitted falseified documents removing central commity members to benifit theselves. They dont care about the Lucas County GOP they just want to be in power. Grow up!!
