The South Toledo YMCA is short of its goal of the 378 new memberships sought to keep its doors open, as the Dec. 12 deadline approaches.

Currently, 108 memberships have been raised toward the membership goal, said spokeswoman Jennifer Ruple. The memberships include people who have newly joined the South YMCA, as well as funds from donations, she said.

Originally, the goal was for 500 new memberships, but Ruple said the South branch could remain operational if  a total of 378  new memberships are raised.

Campaigns to save the South Toledo YMCA began in August.

South Toledo YMCA is located at Woodsdale Avenue and the Anthony Wayne Trail.
