Stolarczyk resigns from Port Authority; Toth appointed
Written by Duane Ramsey | | news@toledofreepress.comThe Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority Board of Directors met Oct. 15 to accept the resignation of Michael Stolarczyk as president of the Port Authority. Stolarczyk resigned for family reasons, according to William Carroll, chairman of the board.
The board immediately voted to appoint Paul Toth as president of the Port Authority. Toth was an applicant for the position when Stolarczyk was hired in April and has served as vice president of technical and financing services and interim airports director for the Port Authority.
Carroll said Stolarczyk’s resignation “came as a surprise to us. Family issues are more important than your job and part of reality. We do not expect his leaving to have any effect on the work of the Port Authority.”
The board voted unanimously to accept Stolarczyk’s resignation and to appoint Toth as president.
Carroll also said that he had discussed the possibility with Toth in advance of the meeting and he said he would accept the position of president if it was offered to him. Toth was not available for comment as Carroll was meeting with him and preparing to introduce him to the Port Authority staff as its new president.
Toth has 20 years of experience with the Port Authority and Carroll said his leadership will provide great stability and focus for the organization.
Stolarczyk was not present for the meeting or available for comment.
