Murder charges added in Brundage case

Written by Caitlin McGlade | | news@toledofreepress.com

Lucas County Juvenile prosecutors are adding aggravated murder and murder charges to Dailahntae Jemison’s aggravated robbery charge in the Robert Brundage case.

The 15-year-old allegedly attacked 66 year-old Brundage and stole his bike on June 22. Brundage died on July 8 at around 4 p.m. at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center after spending weeks in critical condition.

The prosecutor’s office will file complaints to attempt to certify him as an adult, but this process could take up to six weeks, said Lori Olender, assistant prosecuting attorney.

First, Jemison would face a probable cause hearing, then a court psychologist would evaluate him to determine whether he can be rehabilitated and then social history studies will be conducted on him, she said.

If Jemison faces these charges as juvenile, he could be incarcerated at the Lucas County Juvenile Detention Center until he turns 21, but if he is tried as an adult, he could face 15 years to life in prison, Olender said.

Jemison has no prior criminal record, she added.
