Robert Brundage dies
Written by Caitlin McGlade | | news@toledofreepress.comToledo resident and activist Robert Brundage, 66, died at 4:04 p.m. July 7 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center.
“We’ve lost one of the good guys,” said Steven Flagg, who was with “Dr. Bob” when he passed away. “This has essentially destroyed two lives; the life of the young man who did it and the guy who even at the end of his life still had a lot to contribute.”
Brundage had been in critical condition since June 22, when a 15 year-old boy allegedly attacked him at the corner of Collingwood Blvd. and Victoria Place and stole his bike, police have said.
In a family statement released at about 5 p.m., the Brundage family thanked the community for the “outpouring of support,” asking everyone to keep praying for them. They added that they are planning to organize a memorial service.
With a Ph.D. in biophysics from Brandeis University, Brundage worked in Boston to design medical instruments, while balancing his cello playing and love for music. He recorded and edited performances for Harvard University, MIT, New England Conservatory and others for this third career, according to CollingwoodArtsCenter.org.
When he moved back to Toledo after retiring, Brundage served as the treasurer of the Collingwood Arts Center, works on Central City Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation, Community Shares of Northwest Ohio, Jobs with Justice, Parents for Public Schools, Urban Coalition, Building Bridges toward Racial Harmony and more, according to site.

I will miss him. We all will. Horrible and senseless as his death was, we must not forget the joy he brought forth from his life into ours.
