Kid Rock to serve as grand marshal for race
Written by Nicholas Huenefeld | | letters@toledofreepress.comDetroit native Kid Rock will serve as grand marshal for the LifeLock 400 at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) on June 14.
Robert James Ritchie, “Kid Rock,” will headline pre-race activities, including being recognized during driver introductions, giving the command for drivers to start their engines and riding in the grand marshal car during the ceremonial parade laps.
Also, Kid Rock will join the No. 7 Jim Beam driver, Robby Gordon, in the speedway’s fan hospitality club, Acceleration. He will answer fans questions for about 15 minutes. The specific time will be announced as the race weekend approaches.
“He’s a big race fan who likes to be involved,” said Dennis Worden, MIS manager of public relations. “He supports General Motors, which is a big deal, and he’s a lover of auto racing. It only makes sense for him.”
Rock’s most recent album, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Jesus,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and has sold 5 million copies around the world. He recently announced his summer tour, which includes a weekend party in his hometown at Comerica Park on July 17 and 18.
The command for the LifeLock 400 at MIS will be at 2:07 p.m. June 14 with the green flag waving at 2:16 p.m.
