Ottawa Tavern plans ‘political party’ series
Written by Mark Hensch | | news@toledofreepress.comThe Ottawa Tavern, 1815 Adams St., announced June 2 it will host a weekly “political party” for Toledo mayoral candidates. Each date will take place Wednesdays with a meet-and-greet 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. followed by food and entertainment until the venue’s close. Democrat Keith Wilkowski appears June 10, Independent Michael Bell is scheduled for June 17, Democrat Ben Konop appears June 24 and Jim Moody closes the series July 1.
“We want to give the candidates some time to informally meet the voters and hear what is on their minds,” said Ottawa Tavern proprietor Tom Baird in a news release. “This promises to be especially important to the city of Toledo as it maps its future direction for the next four to eight years.”
Baird said in the release that the series presents area residents with a rare chance to interact with each candidate in a casual environment. He said each candidate had been asked to speak, define his platform, and answer questions and concerns during the allotted time. After 9 p.m., patrons can expect music and entertainment following the public forums.
More information can be obtained from Baird at (419)-539-9590.
