The May 6 concert was cancelled following the passing of Cook’s brother Adam on May 2 after a prolonged struggle with brain cancer.

“We are very excited to have him as people know who he his and what to expect,” said Barbara Barkan, the Center’s director of operations. “They are definitely dedicated ‘Idol’ fans.”

The concert is part of Cook’s “Declaration Tour” and features Ryan Starr as a special guest. Barkan said the original date at the Center sold out all 500 seats. She added that Cook’s management authorized a new total of 1,000 tickets following the venue switch.

“We were sold out in nine minutes for the initial show,” she said.

According to the Center’s Web site, the event is sponsored by the Owens Office of Student Activities.
