Meeting set to discuss demolition of Libbey High School
Written by Toledo Free Press Staff Writers | | news@toledofreepress.comA meeting will take place at 6 p.m. March 19 at the Jones Middle School (corner of Collingwood and Gunckel, former home of Gunckel Elementary School) to discuss the possible closing of Libbey High School.
According Chuck Cornwell, Chairman of the Libbey High School Hall of Fame Committee, the minutes of the Ohio School Facilities Commission meeting of Feb. 12 regarding the status of Libbey High School read, “The master plan has Libbey High School being torn down at the end of the project. This decision was made several years ago due to student reduction and enrollment numbers.”
Cornwell said in an e-mail to supporters that the meeting has two purposes: “to keep Libbey open, and to not let it be torn down, as this is an historic building that should be preserved. Bring as many Libbey graduates and Hall of Fame members as you can to this important meeting.”

How would you have liked it if the graduates of 1809 class left you that one room school house just because they did’nt want it torn down.
When a brick falls and hurts one of those kids I want you to pay the medical bill.
