Restaurants offer gift card promotions
Written by Lori Golaszewski | | news@toledofreepress.comRestaurants abound in the Toledo area, and so do the choices when it comes to purchasing restaurant gift cards this holiday season.
Many restaurants and eateries are offering special gift card promotions for a limited time to entice customers to give the gift of a delicious meal.
Mainstreet Ventures is selling gift certificates to patrons at discounted rates through Dec. 31, said Kelly Becker, general manager of Real Seafood Company at The Docks at International Park. Customers who purchase $500 to $999 in gift certificates get 15 percent free, and those who purchase $1,000 or more get 20 percent free, Becker said.
“We have offered this great deal for as long as I can remember and do it for two months during the holidays,” she said. “It’s a gift to all of our regular customers who spend so much money dining in all of our restaurants over the course of the year.”
Gift certificates may be used at Real Seafood Company and other restaurants owned by Mainstreet Ventures, including Zia’s and Ciao! in the Toledo area, as well as restaurants in Ann Arbor and other states.
Mainstreet Ventures is unique in that still offers gift certificates instead of gift cards, Becker noted, which means patrons can get change back if they don’t use the certificate’s full amount.
In addition, Mainstreet Ventures is selling a full-color cookbook featuring the most popular recipes from its restaurants. Each cookbook costs $35, plus tax, but customers can buy one cookbook and get one half-price for a limited time. Pair the cookbook with a $50 gift certificate and customers can purchase both for $75, Becker said.
At LaScola Italian Grill on Airport Highway, Moussa Salloukh, managing partner, said customers can receive bonus cards, depending on the amount they spend on gift cards. Those who purchase $500 to $1,000 worth of gift cards will get a 15 percent bonus card, while those who spend over a $1,000 in gift cards will receive a 20 percent bonus card, Salloukh said.
City Q Barbeque on West Central Avenue and all Barry Bagels eateries are offering gift card promos as well. Customers who spend $20 in gift cards at City Q Barbeque receive a complimentary $5 gift card, said General Manager Jason Carlson. Gift cards are valid at all City Q Barbeque restaurants in Toledo, Findlay, Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati.
At Barry Bagels, a free $5 gift card is given to those who purchase a $25 gift card, said Mark Greenblatt. Gift cards may be redeemed at all Barry Bagels locations in Toledo and Ann Arbor.
If Asian food is your fare of choice, Tea Tree Asian Bistro in Perrysburg is offering a $10 gift card with the purchase of a $100 personalized gift card, according to Lynn Wang, general manager. Patrons can customize the gift card with a special message for the gift recipient.
