Reinbolt comments on Schwartz hiring

Written by Gail Burkhardt | | news@toledofreepress.com

A day after Brian Schwartz, former spokesman for Mayor Carty Finkbeiner, was hired to oversee daily operations at Take Back Toledo, the mayor’s office is speaking out.

On Dec. 11, Robert Reinbolt, FInkbeiner’s chief of staff, released the following statement.

“Mr. Schwartz is yet another member of the Take Back Toledo initiative who lives in the suburbs and not in the City of Toledo. He resigned from his position as Public Information Officer after he refused to relocate from Oregon after initially promising to establish residency in Toledo.”

When contacted, Schwartz confirmed the appointment but declined to comment.

Take Back Toledo hired Schwartz because they needed someone to fill the position and Schwartz had the qualifications, said Tom Schlachter, one of the backers of the organization.

Schwartz is aware of the political scene in the Toledo area because of his job as former relations director at the Port Authority and his experience with the media, Schlachter said.

Schwartz’s position with Finkbeiner added to his knowledge of the political landscape, Schlachter said.

Schlachter would not comment if Schwartz’s position is volunteer or paid.

  1. Major

Ol’ King Carty is not only anti-business, he’s also anti-suburbs. Keep it up Carty, you babboon - you’re well on your way towards alienating everyone in the 419 area code. As for this boob Reinbolt, he’d make a better dogcatcher than spokesmouth. Where is Scout, anyways?
