When I drive through my neighborhood and look at all the new homes with a garage full of Toyotas, Nissans, BMW's I have to wonder where do these people and their Families work? My Family Friends and neighbors all work for Powertrain,Chrysler, Ford, Saturn, Jeep and they do make reliable, fuel efficient vehicles that are a good value. I wouldn't want to look my neighbors way if I rolled up in a toyota, he works at Powertrain.

I'm told by my Foreign car buring friends that it's a global market now. I've read that Toyota Camry is the best selling car here in America. I don't recall seeing Chevy Malibu is number ONE in Japan.; so much for the global market thing.

Respectfully Michael Munding

Dear Mr Blue
After reading your column in the Free Press I felt the need to write a letter inresponse to your Toyota testimonial. We've all had a vehicle that tried our patience; mine was a 1979 Camaro. Well there's been lots of changes in Detroit since you and millions of other turned your back on htem. They do make reliable fuel efficient cars, but people still think that foreign cars have the edge.

My Wife and I bought a used 1995 Dodge Intrepid in 1998, we still have it; 175,000 miles 30 mpg with routine maintenence. I plan to drive it until it won't move. My Family here in Toledo, Detroit, and Flint Mighigan all work Auto related jobs including myself. My cousin Bruce works for GM Research & Development. One of his duties is to disassemble engines taken off the assembly line installed in New York City Cabs driven 3000,000 miles then brought to him. With routine maintenence they show very little wear. pg 1 of 3

Its people like you (not buying American) that the country is in the shape it is in. SAME ON YOU!
But I guess someone who just talks & writes about it and who's not out there trying to make a living in the manufacturing industry it really does not matter!
