Children’s Wonderland: No admission increase
Written by Toledo Free Press Staff Writers | | news@toledofreepress.comThe Lucas County Board of Commissioners, Tina Skeldon Wozniak, Pete Gerken and Ben Konop, announced Nov. 10 the opening of the 45th season of Children’s Wonderland. The attraction will be open Nov. 28 through Dec. 31 at the Lucas County Recreation Center, 2901 Key Street, Maumee. The commissioners announced that admission prices will stay the same as they have for the last six years.
According to a news release, Children’s Wonderland is the largest display of its kind in the country. The displays feature some old favorites from its historical 45 years as well as new additions. This year, in addition to the walking tour of the display and hands-on activities, holiday entertainment and special events have been planned.
On Dec. 6 and 7, SpongeBob Square Pants will visit Children’s Wonderland and on Dec. 13 and 14, Diego, star of “Go Diego Go,” will be on hand greeting children from noon to 3 p.m. A Santa’s secret shop will be set up for youngsters under12to purchase inexpensive holiday gifts for family members. Additionally, Santa, in his newly designed lodge, will be on hand for photo opportunities. The Wonderland Express, a train made for children, will also be running.
Children’s Wonderland hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. On Friday and Saturday the hours are 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday hours are noon to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve hours are 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Children’s Wonderland is closed on Christmas Day. Parking is free.
Adult tickets are priced at $5 and seniors’ tickets are $4, with children older than 2 priced at $3. Discount coupons are available at all area Kroger stores. There are group sales discount for schools, day cares and local organizations. Call (419) 213-2206 to make reservations. The group ticket sale also offers an opportunity to purchase lunch or dinner and group photos with Santa. Additionally, concessions are available on site.
