Pro-Obama video features local plumbers

Written by Brandi Barhite | Special Sections Editor | bbarhite@toledofreepress.com

Ohio plumbers and skilled trades people are responding to Sen. John McCain’s continued use of “Joe the Plumber” as a symbol of the working and middle class.

They have released an online video “setting the record straight.” The spot features Joe Rossler, Jodi Miller and Jose Guerra, all licensed plumbers and pipefiiters in the Toledo area.

The “Joes” say the video is not an attack on Joe Wurzelbacher, “Joe the Plumber,” who has become a campaign symbol after questioning Barack Obama’s tax plan when the presidential candidate was turning Wurzelbacher’s Toledo area neighborhood. It is a reminder that McCain’s attempt to cast his presidential ticket as fighting for the average person is transparent, the “Joes” said.

“A Bunch of Joes” will release additional videos before the election.

Well, it is ironic that McCain used the Werzelbacher plant to pretend that he, McCain, knows more about common people than Obama does.

Who is closer to the average American?

McCain grew up a mllionaire, the son of an Admiral. He got into the US Naval Academy because of his dad, from which he graduated 894th out of 899. McCain has $100 million, a $30 million Citation Jet, and 7 (or 8?) homes. Obama has perhaps $1 million, not jet, and 1 home.

Or how about this: McCain didn’t make that $100 million. After McCain’s wife was crippled in a car accident, he started cheating on her. Then, he married his fellow adulterer who, by the way, being an heiress, didn’t make any of the money she had.

Obama? He grew up raised by a single mom and his grandmother. His dad abandoned him when he was two, and his mom’s second husband never adopted him, never took care of him. He got to Columbia University on his own. He graduated Magna Cum Laude. He got to Harvard Law School on his own. When he graduated, he went to Chicago to work as a community organizer, for $12 thousand per year — one third of what Samuel Joseph Werzelbacher makes.

Correction. I didn’t adjust for inflation. With inflation, Obama made perhaps $24,000 per year.
