The Stranahan National Issues Forum will feature Michael Barone, U.S. News & World Report columnist, who will discuss “American Politics 2008 – And Beyond” at The University of Toledo Law Center Auditorium on Main Campus Oct. 27 at noon.
Raised in Detroit and Birmingham, Mich., Barone has written for many publications, including The Economist, The New York Times, The Detroit News, the Detroit Free Press and “d. He also is a contributor to the Fox News Channel.
In addition, he has written several books: Our Country: The Shaping of America From Roosevelt to Reagan”
(1990), “The New Americans: How the Melting Pot Can Work Again” (2001), “Hard America, Soft America: Competition vs. Coddling and the Battle for the Nation’s Future” (2004) and “Our First Revolution: The Remarkable British Uprising That Inspired America’s Founding Fathers” (2007).
Barone graduated from Harvard College and Yale Law School in 1966 and 1969, respectively, and was an editor of the Harvard Crimson and the Yale Law Journal. He was a member of the editorial page staff of The Washington Post and senior staff editor at Reader’s Digest.
