The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio’s White Cane Walk is an event planned to “help increase awareness of the White Cane Law and issues facing those who are blind or visually impaired, and help raise funds for The Sight Center’s programs and services,” according to a news release.
The event takes place from 9 a.. to noon Oct. 25 at The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio, 1002 Garden Lake Parkway, Toledo, off Detroit Avenue between Glendale and Arlington
Participants will learn how to use a white cane and how to serve as a sighted guide to someone who is blind or visually impaired. Each participant will have an opportunity to use a white cane while walking blindfolded through a ½ mile route around The Sight Center property with the assistance of a sighted guide partner. Additional hands-on activities will be available.
