Are you ready for your baby?

Written by Will Lucas | | letters@toledofreepress.com

When a woman finds out she’s pregnant, all sorts of wheels go into motion. She becomes a ray of sunshine and begins to glow. She tells everyone who’ll listen about her coming bundle of joy. A baby bedroom will get decorated. She along with friends and family will begin collecting diapers, clothes, toys, and all sorts of other baby stuff. Why? Because she is going to be a mother. She’s preparing for someone who is on the way.

This practice is one we all can learn from. It’s not exclusive to expecting a child.

What are you expecting? Are you expecting the success of a business you’re starting? Are you expecting to live a peaceful life? Are you expecting to be healthy? Certainly if you weren’t expecting or at least hoping for success you wouldn’t be wasting any energy at all on the subject. The pregnant lady is expecting a child, but she doesn’t stop there. She plans and prepares for the baby to come because she knows that the baby is coming.

You may not be planning for a baby. However, with a similar assurance you have to act in this same manner in planning for your dreams and goals. Being certain that what you are expecting is actually coming even though you’re stomach may or may not begin to grow. The signs that you are creating something great and wonderful won’t always be physically evident. But you must know through faith that it is coming. There is no doubt in her mind that she is pregnant. There should be no doubt in yours either that your dreams are coming as well.

Because you know that your dreams are getting closer daily and just waiting to be physically realized just as the baby is, you should be planning for them. You should prepare for them. If the mother doesn’t take care of herself while she is pregnant, it would have a negative affect on the baby. Likewise, if you don’t work on yourself, build your business skills, and on your knowledge then opportunities may pass you by without you ever even noticing them because you aren’t in place to receive them.

If it’s health or peace you’re looking for, you should be creating an environment around you that encourages it. You should be cleaning out your refrigerator. Throwing out the fattening and junk foods. It would serve you well to play soothing music in your home and car. Install dimming lights, or take a day off from work when no one else will be home and relax with a great book you’ve been waiting to read.

Prepare for the coming of your baby. Be grateful and thankful that it is coming. Wear your smile and glow. Tell everyone who’ll support you and encourage you of your dream and goals. They’ll be of help when the process gets challenging, and it will. Shop for the furniture that will go in your office. Collect books, articles, and websites that you can pull useful information from. People who love and support you should do the same and cut out magazine or newspaper articles for you as well. Do all you can every day to prepare. Why? Because your dream is coming. It is on the way.

Often, even though you’re not physically pregnant, morning sickness may kick in. When you’ve made an error that could set you back, you may get a little sick. When the doctor gives you a bad report you may feel like a failure or that you have no control over the matter. It will get hard sometimes when you feel like your goals of professional success, peace, or health aren’t getting any closer. When the months get long and the trials seem like mountains, you must keep going and believing. You can’t abort the term. You can’t give up on the dream.

Some days will be great. Others will be challenging. But always know, that you’re creating something wonderful that the world has been waiting on.
