“Multidisciplinary Pain Management: Is There Relief for You?” is the title of an event to be presented by The University of Toledo Medical Center from 6:15 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Dana Conference Center on Health Science campus.

“Everyone has or will experience some level of pain during their lives, whether it’s from migraine headaches, cancer, an accident or a multitude of other causes,” Susan Arbaugh, senior regional outreach liaison in the UT Department of Outreach, said. “This program was designed to help educate the public on some of the new medications, treatments and therapies available.

“Our university-quality physicians are experts in their fields; the community will benefit tremendously from this free educational program,” she said.

Program topics and speakers will be:

• “Interventional Spine Treatments: Lumbar Disc Herniation” by Dr. Amish Patel, UT assistant professor of orthopedics;

• “Finding Relief for Cancer Pain” by Dr. Ronald Skeel, UT professor of medicine and chair of the Institutional Review Board;

• “Advances in Pain Management Beyond Medications” by Dr. Joe Atallah, UT assistant professor and chief of the Division of Pain Medicine;

• “Strategies for Treating Difficult Headaches” by Dr. Gretchen Tietjen, UT professor and chair of neurology.

A complimentary light supper will be provided at 5:45 p.m.

The program is free; however, pre-registration is required. Call the UTMC Referral Resource Center at (419) 383-4444 to register.

For more information on the program, contact Arbaugh at (419) 383-5032.
