Local union leaders to endorse COSI levy

Four local labor union leaders will make a plea to the voters of Lucas County to vote for COSI, Issue 37, on the November ballot.According to a news release, Lloyd Mahaffey, director, UAW Region 2B; Fran Lawrence, president, Toledo Federation of Teachers; Phil Copeland, secretary/treasurer, Local 500 Laborers Union and Toledo City Councilman; and Don Frantz, regional coordinator, Apprenticeship, Local 18, International Union of Operating Engineers, will make statements at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 29 in front of the COSI building on Summit Street.
The levy, which officials say would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $5.21 a year, would be COSI’s third attempt.
COSI closed at the end of 2007, after operating for 11 years.
