Appliance Center breaks ground on expansionWritten by Staff Reports | | email@example.com
Maumee-based Appliance Center will break ground at noon Sept. 19 on an expansion to its location at 321 Illinois Ave.
According to a news release, the size of the store’s showroom will increase from 9,500 square feet to more than 48,000 square feet.
Appliance Center plans to double the size of its current staff to approximately 100, the release said.
The store’s mattress and furniture selection will grow to five times its current size, with more than 75 manufacturers represented. Sofas, recliners, leather furniture, bedding, entertainment centers, bedroom, dining room, living room and office furniture will be added as well, the release said.
Appliance Center co-owners John and Julie Oswald said the store’s recent success has led to the need for a larger facility.
“Community support over the last few years has been phenomenal,” John Oswald said. “We focus on offering our customers the best selection in the area with the guaranteed lowest prices, free same-day delivery and free haul away.”
Chuck Oswald opened the first Appliance Center on Lagrange Street in 1963 and moved later to Parkway Plaza in 1969, the Holiday Plaza in 1973 and to the current location in 1982.
