New bar open
A new rock ‘n’ roll bar, Ottawa Tavern, opened July 25 at 1815 Adams St. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturdays.
Lil’ Ed & the Blues Imperials
Lil’ Ed & the Blues Imperials will perform at 9:15 p.m. Aug. 2 at Blue Devil, 938 W. Laskey Road. Lil’ Ed and the band have appeared twice on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien, and Ed was a guest on National Public Radio’s Saturday morning flagship program, “Weekend Edition Saturday.” In addition, the group picked up the coveted “Band of the Year” award at the 2007 Blues Music Awards, and Lil’ Ed Williams was voted 2007 Blues Artist of the Year (Male) in both the Readers’ and the Critics’ Poll in Living Blues magazine. Their seventh Alligator CD, “Full Tilt,” will be released on Aug. 26.

Artists on the River Festival seeks ‘celebrity art’
The Artists on the River Festival is seeking “celebrity art” for its silent auction benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio. The art will be on display Downtown at Manhattan’s restaurant Aug. 29 to 31, with final bidding on Aug. 31. A “celebrity” is a community leader, television or radio personality, news columnist, local business owner, etc.
