Kickoffs and drivesWritten by Tom Pounds | President / Publisher | email@example.com
This is a weekend that signals the waning days of summer and the start of many dream quests. There will be much talk about setting goals, teamwork and besting last year’s performance.
Some of that talk, of course, revolves around the fresh grass of local football fields, but it also applies to the start of this year’s United Way of Toledo campaign.
United Way of Greater Toledo will be celebrate its 2007 Campaign Kickoff from 7:30 to 9 a.m. on Sept. 5 at Fifth Third Field. For information or to RSVP, call (419)254-4619.
The Mud Hens stadium is a great setting for the campaign. As the Hens bask in the glow of their third consecutive division championship, the atmosphere for challenge and community cooperation is charged with high hopes and practical plans.
This year’s campaign chairman, Robert LaClair, president and CEO of Fifth Third Bank, has set the bar high as he and Bill Kitson, United Way of Greater Toledo president and CEO, work to meet this year’s goals.
There are far too many United Way programs and initiatives to mention in this space, but I urge you to visit www.unitedwaytoledo.org and learn all you can about this storied organization’s work in our neighborhoods.
It’s time to dig deep and contribute to a cause truly worth rooting for.
