Local duo team together to shame HoudiniWritten by Chase Purdy | | firstname.lastname@example.org
Sean McGee and Clay Moore met in the sixth grade because they both loved magic. This weekend they plan to shatter a record set by Harry Houdini with his own illusion.
This July 28 and 29 both magicians will perform at Maumee Indoor Theater to a potential crowd of 1000 spectators. They plan to display over 80 of their own illusions, including a few they have patented themselves.
“We got it to 1.8 seconds last time, so we didn’t get it,” said Clay Moore,16, on their attempt to break Houdini’s record. “We’ll be getting it to one second in Maumee, we will break the record.”
The young magicians started out by watching David Copperfield and the Spensers and have since performed themselves at middle schools and county fairs across Ohio. In 2009 they hope to launch their first tour, in which they will travel through Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.
“I’m a little nervous because we have a lot of new things going on in the show and yet excited now that we get to do this,” said Sean McGee, 15. “We’re building up, were getting lights, we’re getting bigger illusions. Now we’re making a profit more doing bigger shows.”
The show will be in Maumee Indoor Theatre this weekend. For information on tickets and the show contact Clay Moore at (419) 250-1572.
