This week’s column is taking a different focus, those of you who visit www.toledotalk.com or my blog know that I issued a ”Bloggers Challenge” last Saturday where I invited Toledo area bloggers to write a post about a local business they wanted to highlight. I also invited those who didn’t have a blog to list their favorite local businesses, many did just that. The blogs that accepted this challenge have all done an excellent job, and I thank everyone for their participation in this.
Michael Brooks of History Mike’s Musings selected Janney’s Ace Hardware for recognition.
KrazyKat from Toledo Speaks Out blog had planned on creating a regular feature for local businesses, his first profile of a continuing series is on Glendale Garden Cafe and Reynolds Road Garden Cafè.
Don, one half of the duo behind The Nookular Option, suggested Durdel’s Music as a favorite, they’ve been busy with the development of their new podcast but the review should be done by the time this column is up.
This challenge even got my husband, Miguel to enter into the blogosphere, his new blog, Just One More Shot features Hudson’s Automotive.
Micah selected Gyro & Kabob Express as a place both he and Susan enjoy to feature on Micah and Susan’s Blog Archive.
While Toledo Links isn’t a part of this challenge, I’d be remiss if I did not include the site here. The site was created to focus on local businesses of all kinds. It’s my first place to go when I am looking for anything from artists to webcams.
I was planning on taking a few of the places mentioned by those who don’t have blogs to feature on my blog but there are too many places to just select one. If you visit the Toledo Talk thread you’ll see what I mean as well as discover where some of Maggie Thurber’s favorite local places are and from my blog we’ve learned Ben Konop is a Packo’s fan. So I opted to go with the place I rave about often, El Tipico who is getting some well deserved attention from other local media as well on their recent 38th anniversary.
